I wanted to go overboard with a steak for the July 4th holiday and my butcher was selling gorgeous gigantic porterhouse steaks. I picked up two porterhouses and a smaller NY strip for the wife.
Prime 2 inch cut porterhouse steaks

Wow, look at these gorgeous steaks!
For steaks this size the normal "rule of threes" that I follow went out the window. This time I grilled the steaks on direct heat for about 3 min per side but then increased the indirect heat cooking about 5-6 minutes per side. This allowed for medium steaks.
For a side dish I made twice baked potatoes with bacon.
