Crab: To make crab salad, you will need 1 lb of fresh or canned jumbo lump crab.
Wet Ingredients: 1 tbsp of dijon mustard, 3 tbsp of mayonnaise, 2 tsp of sriracha, and the juice of 1 lemon.
Seafood Seasoning: As a Marylander, you know Old Bay seasoning was used. Throw in 1 tsp of Old Bay Seasoning to finish off the flavor boost.
Chesapeake Crab Salad Sliders
Bread: For this recipe, I used 1 package of Hawaiian pretzel slider rolls which I highly recommend. However, you can use your favorite type of roll or bread.
Butter: Before toasting up the rolls, melt 2 tbsp of butter and brush it on the bread.
Toppings: Top off your sliders with some shredded Iceberg lettuce and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Recipe Variations
Make it a Taco: Follow this same recipe and throw it in corn or flour tortillas.
Optional Toppings and Ingredients: If you are looking to add to the flavor and list of ingredients, consider trying Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, chopped green peppers, or red bell pepper, chopped red onion or sweet onion, fresh parsley, or even some chopped ripe tomatoes.
Optional Seasoning: Looking to turn up the heat? Consider adding a touch of cayenne pepper or black pepper.

Check crab pieces for shells. Gently pick through the crabmeat looking for any pieces of shell. Try to not break up the lumps as best you can.

How to make Chesapeake Crab Sliders
Turn your salad into delicious crab sandwiches by using the following steps.
Brush butter onto rolls and toast. To prepare the sliders brush melted butter on your rolls then lightly dust with old bay and toast under the broiler for about 2 minutes. Keep a close eye on them to make sure the rolls don't burn.
Pile on the crab and toppings. Pile the crab salad on top then add a layer of lettuce, tomato, or pickles if you like before cutting it into individual sandwiches.
How long does crab salad last in the fridge?
Store your leftover crab salad in an airtight container and place it in the fridge. The leftover crab will keep for about 3-5 days.
What sides go with crab salad?
Eating your Chesapeake crab salad as just a salad? Serve it up with some hearty whole-grain bread, crackers, or a mixed green salad.
Crab salad can also be enjoyed with fresh cucumbers and chopped tomato too!
Real Crab vs. Imitation Crab
For this recipe, I used REAL jumbo lump crab. However, let's take a second to talk about imitation crab and the differences between the two.
Real crab meat has nearly three times the amount of protein as imitation crab and is also higher in vitamins and minerals. So if you are concerned about protein and overall health, real crab is the way to go.
Imitation crab, however, is cheaper and does not actually contain crab at all. It is a faux crab that relies on a bunch of different ingredients to mimic the taste and texture of the authentic real crab.
So, what is imitation crab made of? It is predominantly made with something called surimi, which is just a fish paste.
