This smoky, sweet, and delicious treat may sound strange, but the flavor combination is actually quite good.
You are probably thinking, why on Earth would I put thick sliced bacon around my Oreo cookies, a treat that is near sheer perfection on its own?

Who Invented Bacon Wrapped Oreos?
You might be wondering where in the world this idea even came from. You already know the answer to that one…social media, of course.
After one person posted this seemingly crazy combination, of course, others jumped on the bandwagon for this great new thing.
Other than trending on social media, it is unclear where the idea of the smoked bacon-wrapped Oreo originated.
There was a deep-fried version of the bacon-wrapped Oreo served at the Orange County Fair in California in 2012 and the myans we wrong because the world didn’t end.
Then someone had the bright idea to add some dry BBQ rub and put it on the smoker, and boy, will you be glad that they did!

Ingredients for Bacon Wrapped Oreos
Bacon: I recommend thin-cut bacon for this recipe because we want the bacon to cook as quickly as possible.
Oreo Cookies: I used double-stuffed Oreos because who doesn’t love more icing? Classic or flavored Oreos will also work in a pinch.
Dry Rub: I like to use a dry rub just to add a hint of spicy, smoky flavor to match up with the salty and the sweet.
Cooking Spray: just a little bit of food lube to make sure the rub sticks to the bacon.

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Oreos
So what do you need to make a batch of bacon wrapped Oreos at home? Not much! You will need a package (or two) of Double Stuffed Oreos, your favorite barbecue dry rub (sweet and spicy preferred), and some slices of thick-cut bacon.

You will need to refrigerate your Oreos for about an hour before you are ready to wrap them in the bacon.
The bacon strips will need to be cut in half so each piece of bacon will wrap two cookies.
After your Oreos are wrapped in bacon, give them a light spray of cooking oil so that your barbecue rub has something to stick to.
Now you are ready for the smoker! Put your bacon-wrapped Oreos on a 275-degree smoker for approximately one hour, or until your bacon is cooked through.
Do not eat your Oreos directly off of the smoker, or you won’t have any taste buds left to enjoy them! Let the cookies sit for at least five minutes to cool down a bit before serving.

The cream in the cookies will be crazy hot when they first come off the smoker, so please, let them cool before you indulge.
They are worth the wait! The cookies and bacon will be a little bit soft when they are hot, but they will crisp up again as the cookies cool down.

Storing the cookies
Any leftover cookies should be placed in an airtight container and placed in the refrigerator.
They are still good to eat for 3-5 days as long as they remain refrigerated.
Remember, they aren’t just Oreos, they are bacon wrapped Oreos, and bacon has to be refrigerated.
These bacon wrapped Oreos are perfect for serving when you have friends over to watch the game or for just about any time really.
Is there ever a time when Oreos are a bad idea? Have you ever regretted adding bacon to anything?
Then bacon wrapped Oreos are pretty much the perfect snack or dessert for any occasion that you can think of!
