These Shredded Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches with Celery Slaw are mouthwateringly delicious and perfect for game day!

It’s Football Sunday – change up your routine with a new buffalo chicken sandwich recipe that’s made to impress.

Loaded with juicy chicken, hot sauce, ranch dressing, chives, dill, and topped with a brioche bun, everyone will be reaching for seconds and thirds!

Shredded Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

It’s Sunday, the game … or games … are on, you want something delicious, but you aren’t looking to spend all day in the kitchen.

If this sounds like you, I’ve got the perfect game day recipe for you.

In under 30 minutes, you will be serving up the best chicken sandwiches you (and your guests) have had in a long time.

BONUS: This isn’t just a Sunday game day recipe. These shredded chicken sandwiches are such a crowd-pleaser, you will want to make them on any night of the week!

Ingredients needed to make Chicken Sandwiches with Celery Slaw

Chicken Sandwich Ingredients

Chicken: 1 lb Shredded Chicken Rotisserie or smoked chicken. To save time, you can grab a pre-made rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.

Buffalo Sauce: You can’t make buffalo chicken without 1 cup of the best Hot Sauce!

Buns: 4 Brioche Buns. I recommend using brioche buns because … well, they are delicious. However, if they aren’t your style, you can substitute them with your favorite hearty bun.

Pro-Tip: DON’T buy flimsy-looking or weak-looking buns. Your sandwich will fall apart in your hands and no one wants to deal with that mess.

Celery Slaw Ingredients

Vegetables: To make celery slaw, you will need a couple of essential fresh veggies like thinly sliced celery and shredded carrots.

Wet Ingredients: These wet ingredients act as binding agents and they are packed with incredible flavor! You will need ½ cup Ranch Dressing, 2 tbsp Sour Cream, 1 tbsp White Vinegar, and 2 tsp Honey

Seasoning: No one likes a boring and tasteless slaw, so don’t sleep on the seasoning. Grab ⅛ tsp Celery Seed, 1 tbsp Chives, and ½ tsp dill.

How to Make Shredded Buffalo Chicken with Celery Slaw

Shred. Shred up a whole chicken removing the skin and any bones into bite-size pieces and place in a medium pan along with one cup of buffalo sauce.

Simmer. Simmer on low while stirring occasionally until warm.

Slice and cut. To prepare the slaw very finely slice celery on a bias cut, then cut carrots into thin matchsticks or shred using a box grater.

Combine. Add celery and carrots into a medium-sized bowl along with ranch, sour cream, honey, celery salt, chives, dill, and white vinegar, and toss all ingredients together.

Refrigerate. Chill the slaw in the fridge until you are ready to plate.

Assemble. To assemble the sandwiches toast your brioche buns in a pan then top with a ¼ of the shredded buffalo chicken on each bun then top with about a ¼ cup of the celery slaw.

Serve. Enjoy!

What to serve with Chicken Sandwiches

You’ve got your sandwich, but no meal, especially on game day, is complete without a few delicious sides and snacks.

Storing Leftovers in the Fridge

If you follow the recipe, these measurements will give you 4 sandwiches; double or triple accordingly.

Now, if you have leftovers, grab 2 air-tight containers and store your slaw and shredded chicken separately.

They will both last in the fridge for about 3-5 days.

Reheating Buffalo Chicken

Reheat your leftovers quickly by putting them in the microwave for 90 seconds with a damp cloth over the container.

Toast a bun and top with slaw! It will taste just like they did on day 1, if not better!

  • ⅛ tsp Celery Seed
  • 1 tbsp Chives
  • ½ tsp Dill

Instructions
